Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Located in NY, NY, Memorial Hospital is a worldwide leader in the treatment of cancer. Memorial Hospital is home to the main surgical center which is made up of 21 operating rooms. More than 9,000 surgical procedures are performed each year, and they are also well known for robotic-assisted surgery.  Here, residents have the opportunity to work on a variety of surgical services including thoracic, hepato-pancreato-biliary, gastric & mixed tumor, and colorectal.

Cooper University Hospital

Located in Camden, NJ, Cooper University Hospital is the busiest trauma center in New Jersey. Cooper University Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, with nearly 3,000 trauma admissions per year. Here, PCOM surgical residents rotate on the Trauma Surgery service and obtain a great deal of exposure to all aspects of care of the critically ill trauma patient, as well as a large amount of operative trauma cases.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia  is the nation’s first hospital devoted exclusively to the care of children.  Today, families facing complex conditions come to CHOP from all over the world, and their care and innovation has earned them a spot on the U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll of the nation’s best children’s hospitals. Pediatric surgeons at CHOP perform approximately 4,000 general and thoracic surgical procedures each year.

Reading Hospital and Medical Center

Reading Hospital is a 647-bed acute care hospital, where nearly 19,000 surgical procedures are performed each year. As one of our main training locations, Reading Hospital offers a great deal of exposure to a wide variety of surgical cases. At this location, PCOM surgical residents have exposure to: General Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Surgery Critical Care, Vascular Surgery, Minimally Invasive/Bariatric Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Surgical Oncology. Residents will become familiar with the da Vinci® Surgical System.  Additionally, Reading Hospital is a Level II Trauma Center, which is a member of the University of Pennsylvania Health System Trauma Network.

Crozer Chester Medical Center  

Crozer Chester is a 300-bed tertiary-care teaching hospital located in Upland, Pennsylvania. Crozer Chester Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center, and is also home to the Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center and the Crozer-Keystone Regional Kidney Transplant Center. At this location, PCOM residents work on the following services: General Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Burn Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery & Transplant Surgery.

Delaware County Memorial Hospital

Delaware County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) is a 168-bed, not-for-profit facility that offers a broad range of acute and specialized services. Residents rotate on the general surgery service, and there are more than 5,800 surgeries performed each year at DCMH.

Taylor Hospital

Taylor Hospital  joined the Crozer-Keystone Health System in 1997. Each year, the 105-bed not-for-profit hospital admits more than 7,000 patients and receives more than 28,000 Emergency Department visits.

Aria Health System

The Aria Health System is comprised of three campuses; Bucks, Torresdale and Frankford. Aria’s Department of Surgery is made up of 12 divisions, ranging from General Surgery to Cardiothoracic Surgery and Surgical Oncology. 

The Bucks campus is a 112-bed community hospital which offers surgical residents experience with a large amount of elective general surgical procedures.  The Torresdale campus is a 258-bed hospital and a designated Level II Trauma Center. Aria Torresdale is also home to the da Vinci®  Si Surgical System, and a variety of robotic surgery, including thoracic and bariatric, is performed here. The Frankford campus is a 115-bed hospital that specializes in general surgery and vascular surgery. More than 5,000 inpatient surgery cases and 6,000 outpatient cases are performed at the Frankford campus each year.

Roxborough Memorial Hospital

Roxborough Memorial Hospital is a 141-bed hospital serving the medical and health care needs of the Roxborough, Manayunk and Northwest Philadelphia communities for more than a century. Residents gain exposure to general and vascular surgery at this location.
